The Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship Program at the St. Michael’s Hospital Barlo MS Centre will train neurologists to offer specialist care to patients with CNS demyelinating diseases. The duration and design of the training program will be tailored to the specific learning needs and objectives of the candidate, with variable proportions of clinical and research activities.

Core training will include adult and pediatric out-patient MS and neuroinflammatory and physiatry clinics. Research involvement is strongly encouraged with several faculty mentors available. Ongoing projects/programs include:

  • The MRI in MS Research Program which focuses on advanced imaging of the brain and spinal cord and its translation into clinical practice
  • The Canadian Prospective Cohort Study to Understand Progression in MS (CanProCo)
  • Large databases: SMH MS Clinic Registry and access to MSBase
  • Epidemiology of neuromyelitis optica and related disorders (CANOPTICS
  • Women’s health in MS
  • Laboratory-based research assessing various biomarkers
  • Clinical trials unit
